So if my name is Kristine, what are the names Cady Meloy? They’re family names, and without them I would not be who I am. It’s a nod to the strong women (and men!) who came over from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Germany to make it, somehow, in America.
I, myself, was going to travel the world and use that camera to create images worthy of wall hanging and inspiration for others to travel, but along the way my perspective changed: people, like landscapes, make a portrait too. I like to find the candid, non posed details of a scene such as Grandma holding her granddaughter for the first time, an entire family laughing together or a ballerina having a quiet moment before performing. Suspending time, moments really, of the stages of a person’s life in a picture or portrait is an honor. It is as inspiring to me as capturing that palm tree silhouetted by a magical Gulf Coast sunset or the remnants of a ruined castle in the Scottish Highlands. All of life’s details, even the smallest, seemingly insignificant ones are worth keeping and sharing. Creating these unique conversation pieces is one of my very favorite things to do.
My other favorite things? Travel, of course, I absolutely love to travel for fun, not just landscape hunting….and….salt and vinegar potato chips. Kettle cooked, malt vinegar, the stronger the better. Strong enough the melt the skin on my cheeks is just fine! And then there’s laughter-the best kind is the gut-cramping, hiccup inducing euphoria brought on by vintage Saturday Night Live episodes or the like minded sense of humor shared with your siblings, best friends, old friends and even new friends.
This is my story. What is your story? Let me help create and share your unique story through pictures. Give me a call…..especially if you have salt and vinegar chips!
